Equipment: Laser Space equipment was produced by Dae Dong International Co. LTD. and featured a vest with four sensors, multi-speaker surround sound and LEDs that would turn off when a player was tagged during the game. A red beam was a feature of the two-handed phaser, which would signal to a player with a tone if both hands were not holding the device. The company’s marketing material indicated: “The phaser has two firing functions: laser & machine gun” and additional “time bomb” and “Howitzer” devices were also options for use in the arena. The equipment is thought to have possibly been inspired by the Zone Empire’s V-5 equipment.
Historical Synopsis: The Seoul, Korea based company Dae Dong International Co. LTD, began developing Laser Space equipment in 1994. It was 1996 before the equipment was in use at their first arena location in New York. The company originally began using a different name “Star Wars II”, however in 1997 the name was changed to Laser Space.
