Andrew Jeon – Assistant Manager
First Facility: Galaxy Laser Tag Leviton, New York
Equipment: The equipment for Laser Space was produced by Dae Dong International Co. LTD. The Dae Dong vest was created with 4 sensors and LED’s. The vest was also equipped with multi – speaker surround sound which was used to simulate the sounds of battle throughout the players laser game experience. In order to indicate to the player that they had been tagged, the LED’s on the vest would turn off.
The phaser was developed to emit a visible bright red laser. In order for the phaser to work the player would need to place both hands on it, and if the player ever took the supporting hand off a tone would emit from the phaser. According to their marketing material, “The phaser has two firing functions; Laser & Machine Gun.” The equipment also had the ability to come with two other devices located in the arena, the “Time Bomb” and the “Howitzer”.
Due to the overall nature of the equipment it is thought that it was inspired from the Zone Empire’s V-5 equipment.
History: Laser Space was a product of Dae Dong International Co. LTD, a company based out of Seoul, Korea. They first started developing their laser tag equipment in 1994, but didn’t put it into an arena until 1996 when they opened their first location in New York. Laser Space was originally established under the name “Star Wars II” but was then changed to Laser Space in 1997.
