History: The International Laser Tag Association was formed to serve as the source of information regarding the laser tag and laser games industry.  It's original mission statement was:

The International Laser Tag Association (ILTA) is a trade association incorporated as a non-profit organization to:
Help promote the placement of member manufacturers' systems.
To help laser tag and laser game centers become more efficient.
To help promote the laser tag and laser game industry as a whole.

In 2004, the ILTA repurposed itself to be an Operator and Developer Association, removing any representation for the laser tag manufacturers.  It continues to operate as a Developer and Operator Trade Association and represents the laser tag and laser game industry overall.

The ILTA launched the first version of its website on October 22, 1996.  This makes www.lasertag.org one of the first approximately 600,000 web domains to exist by 1996 and one of the oldest domains on the internet. 

In 1998, the ILTA hosts the first of what has become an annual tradition.  The ILTA Operator and Developer Dinner was the first event of its kind where operators with different types of laser tag systems all gathered for an evening of festivities and information sharing.  Operators from around the world have attended the dinner to share what is working and not working for their facilities regarding operations, marketing, management and more.

In 2003, the Founder and Executive Director of the ILTA, Erik Guthrie, resigns to take a position with a laser tag manufacturer.  Shane Zimmerman becomes the Executive Director.

In 2005, the ILTA created the Laser Tag Museum, located at Lazer Blaze in Louisville, KY.

In 2006, the ILTA created Laser Tag Start Up (www.lasertagstartup.com) to help foster and create a central resource for up to date industry statistics and information.

In 2006, the ILTA created and formed the Outdoor Laser Tag Association to help be a central source of information for the outdoor laser skirmish market. A website is created at http://www.outdoorlasertag.org

In 2007, the ILTA rolled out a nationwide insurance program for the laser tag industry.  It create a website to help operators reduce their insurance premiums dramatically.  The website is http://www.lasertaginsurance.com.

In 2009, the ILTA formed the Laser Tag Convention and it is co-hosted with the Roller Skating Association International and their roller skating convention.  In conjunction with the Laser Tag Convention, the ILTA also introduced the Annual Golden Phaser Awards.  These awards are design to honor the industry's best operators, websites, marketing and more.  A website was created at http://www.lasertagconvention.com

In 2010, the ILTA launched its very popular Facebook page.  The Facebook page is located at https://www.facebook.com/IntlLaserTagAssociation.

In 2011, the Executive Director of the ILTA, Shane Zimmerman, resigns to take a position with a laser tag manufacturer.  Ryan McQuillen, formerly the Vice President of Laserforce International accepts the Executive Director position.

In 2012, the ILTA created a website to showcase the artifacts of the Laser Tag Museum.  The website is http://www.lasertagmuseum.com.

On January 2, 2013, Ryan McQuillen, Executive Director and the Board of Directors consisting of Davor Franicevich, President of the Board; Jarrod Waite, Jay Trietley and Austin Reed, conduct a meeting and vote to dissolve the ILTA.  On January 28, 2013, the ILTA ceases all services to its members and notifies the industry that it has closed its doors.
