First Facility: Lazer Blaze in Louisville, Kentucky. Installed Crystal and swapped out their old Lasertron on October 15, 1999.
Equipment: Quoted from a Crystal Entertainment advertisement: “Bodysuit – The whole suit weighs just under 6 lbs. It is similar to the material used in the production of tool bags and heavy duty canvas.”
“Phaser – the phaser weighs 2 lbs. has two handles and naturally is easier to use with both hands. It is designed to appeal and has a generally futuristic appearance as a phaser and not a gun. The triggers can be configured to require use of both or blanked off to be one. “ Each location had their logo hand painted on the side of their phasers, which was a first in the laser tag industry.
History: Crystal Entertainment, Inc. was founded in 1999 by Peter Davies and Simon Willets. Crystal Entertainment was headquartered in Indian Head Beach, Florida.
Peter Davies resigned his position as Managing Director of Darklight System, Ltd. to start Crystal. Simon Willets also resigned from Darklight where he served as Vice President. Darklight System, Ltd. was in the process of liquidating when Peter and Simon resigned.
The Crystal laser tag equipment shared a similar look as Darklight which was not surprising since the common background of both Peter and Simon.
On February 23, 2000, Crystal Entertainment was merged into the Zone Empire network of laser tag companies.
Zone Empire acquired Crystal for two particular reasons. Crystal had a radio technology for innovative game formats which Zone lacked at that time. The second item was access to Crystal’s sales team. The Crystal team was to bolster Zone Empire's sales force.
Darkzone Technologies, Inc., Ultrazone Franchising, and Crystal Entertainment were all acquired by P&C Micros and merged in 2000 to create Zone Sytems, Inc.
